Client States

Just like it happens with accounts, clients can also have several states with specific meanings and implications for each.

Pending Approval

It's one of the possible states of a client who has just been added to the system and defined under Administration.

Only after the clients are approved, you can start creating accounts for them.

Inactive

Is the other state a client can have after being created. The difference between Inactive and Pending Approval is that you can create new accounts for inactive clients.

You can create new accounts, add to a group

Active

Any client who has at least one active account or in arrears, will be an Active client.

The client's state will be automatically set to inactive as soon as all the accounts are closed.

Exited

Any Inactive client who has no open accounts can be exited. Once in this state it won't be possible to create new accounts for this client, assign guarantors or groups.

There are several reasons you might want to consider set a client's state to Exited. For instance, if the client finished a loan cycle and doesn't apply for another loan immediately after, you might want to keep that client's information in the system while also preventing other users from opening accounts for that client by mistake or assigning them to credit officers, or guarantors for instance.

This client might return to your organization in the future and it will be valuable to have all their history stored.

Blacklisted

Similarly to what happens with Exited clients, any Inactive client can be Blacklisted.

It's not possible to open new accounts to a blacklisted client, add them to groups or assign guarantors.

You can blacklist clients if, for instance, you want to communicate to other users that the client specific client shouldn't receive another loan for default or any other reason.

If a blacklisted client returs to your organization in the future, even if it's another staff member dealing with the case, will have access to the history and reasons for that client's blacklisting.

The following diagram illustrates how the clients states relate to eachother:
