Overview

You can use custom fields to determine what information needs to be included in the clients profiles, branches, loan and deposit accounts in addition to the default fields provided by Mambu.

So if your organization wants to capture, for instance, the number of children in the clients' household, the funds source for a specific loan or the type of a branch you could create custom fields to add this information to the clients, accounts or branches profile.

Scores

You can associate values to the options you create for custom fields of type Selection.

The scores can be used, for instance, to calculate social performance indicators of your clients.

Once you associate values with custom fields, the totals will be associated to clients, accounts or branches using those custom fields.

Free Text Custom Fields

With a free text custom field, you can manually enter the value of a specific field.

Suppose there is a custom field about the number of children in the household of the type free text. When entering this information in the clients' profile you will need to enter the number in the correpondent textbox.

To create a new custom field of the type Free Text, after clicking Add a New Field enter the field's name > select whether it should be required, default, or both > select Free Text from the dropdown menu > add a description to the new field > click Create.

Pre-defined selection

This option will allow you to create custom fields with predefined options which can be selected just by clicking on them.

Use this type of custom field when you want to provide a set of predefined options that other users can then select from the list.

Suppose you need to capture information about the loans' source of funds. Using a pre-defined selection field would allow you to enter different options, such as Local NGO, Individual Lender and so on.

To create a new custom field of the type Pre-defined Selection, Add a New Field > enter the new field's name > choose if it's Required or Default > choose Selection > enter the options names > enter a score to each option, if applicable > click the plus icon to add them to the list > click Create.

Use the arrows to move the options up or down according to the order you want them to be displayed.

Numeric custom fields

If the information you want to capture is purely with numbers, like for instance, number of children in the household, the numeric custom fileds would be the most appropriate. Choosing this type of custom field will make sure that only numbers can be entered and help preventing mistakes.

To create a numeric custom field, Add a New Field > enter the field's name > Choose if it's Required or Default > click on the dropdaown menu and choose the option Number > Create.

Required and Default Custom Fields

You should set a custom field as Required for the information you want to capture for all your clients. Then when you or any staff member adds a new client to Mambu, the form will only be saved after this information is filled.

If you set a custom field as Default, it will be displayed as an option that you can choose to enter information or not.

The custom fields that are not set as Required or as Default will only appear in the form if you click Add Custom Field.
